The Nike SB Dunk High “Reverse Goldenrod” is a black-and-yellow colorway of the skate shoe that flips the color block of the Nike Dunk’s original “Goldenrod” or “Varsity Maize” style. An original colorway of Nike’s “Be True to Your School” collection of college basketball-inspired Dunks from 1985, the “Varsity Maize” or “Iowa” Dunk debuted as the official team shoe of the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team and was reissued as the “Goldenrod” in 1999. Here, Nike SB reverses the color cadence of the first “Varsity Maize” style by dressing the perforated toe, mid-panel, collar, and heel in Varsity Maize-colored suede. Contrasting black suede overlays and Swoosh branding allow for the yellow panels to garner attention. It should be noted that the original “Goldenrod” or “Varsity Maize” Nike Dunk was constructed from leather, not suede, as is featured on this skate-ready “Reverse Goldenrod.”
